This week TGHP guys are joined by the almighty progressive shred legend himself, John Petrucci!! (can you tell we’re excited about this one?)
They discuss John’s soon to be released second solo album “Terminal Velocity” and the freshly released title track. Topics include the background to the writing, recording and production process, crafting guitar tones, reuniting with Mike Portnoy, and how everything was accomplished during the pandemic.
Of course it wouldn’t be an episode of TGHP without some serious nerding out, and so we get John’s take on the practise themes of late, and how his practise, development and maintenance has changed over the years since the Rock Discipline instructional.
Other topics include different approaches to legato, Berklee, learning and drawing from diverse styles and getting yelled at for rocking the jazz department too hard! 😂
